Pros

Staff and faculty strive for excellence as a university, benefits are top notch, students are highly motivated, facillities and location are superior. Atlanta is an exciting city to live in. Work/ life balance is attainable.

Cons

Salary does not compare to industry jobs, Some managers are not willing to address problem employees. There is a pretty wide talent difference from area to area.

Pros

It's a state job. This means somewhat decent benefits and you get most major holidays off.

Cons

This is specific to the College of Computing: the Dean and his cabinet have NO IDEA of how business is really executed at the college. There is a lot of shifting money around and other suspicious activity financially. Not to mention that the IT department at the College of Computing is the worst in the whole University. They are known by the central OIT and other groups as the College of Compromises because they get compromised (hacked) so much.
