Good place for research

Pros

It has great facilities to do research. Students are also very good in general, especially the graduate students. The student body and also the staff is quite diverse. And off course the weather is great. Snow is rare, so you do not have to clean your car every winter. The institute supports greatly student and staff travel. The reimbursement is at par with the professor level even for graduate student. That is quite generous. No need of receipts for meals etc.

Cons

Some of the support stuff are incompetent. The institute is not very student fiendly. It is more friendly to the institute employee.

Pros

At GTRI you learn a great deal about how the federal funding dictates the activities of the majority of efforts undertaken there. The upside is one sees how the federal government and civilian live are two different realms.

Cons

The culture is one of intellectual elitism and what and how many degrees you have will place you in the pecking order. Real world experience carries no water there - if you do not have an advanced degree you are but someone to tolerant.

Pros

Staff and faculty strive for excellence as a university, benefits are top notch, students are highly motivated, facillities and location are superior. Atlanta is an exciting city to live in. Work/ life balance is attainable.

Cons

Salary does not compare to industry jobs, Some managers are not willing to address problem employees. There is a pretty wide talent difference from area to area.
