Pros

* I worked with some genuinely great people who were very supportive as a team.

Cons

* Poor leadership. There are a few decent managers, but the majority are overwhelming unsupportive and don't really "manage" much. In my experience, they would offer very little support and were very much "hands off" when it came to their jobs. * The company’s idea of "efficiency improvements" is laying off large groups of people without warning or explanation. You get an email or text one day telling you your job is gone. It’s a terrible way to treat people who’ve invested time and energy into the company. This constant threat of layoffs makes it hard to feel secure or motivated, and it creates a culture of fear. * Forced ranking is a nightmare. Management ranks a certain percentage of employees as “underperforming,” even when there’s no logical reason to do so. This practice just adds unnecessary stress and makes everyone more focused on competing against each other rather than working together. It’s a culture killer. * Heavy workload leading to burnout. I was expected to work late hours and would often have to work weekends to meet deadlines with no additional support from management. It’s not sustainable, and it’s frustrating to see how little the company cares about giving employees the resources they need to succeed.

Pros

relatively easy to get the job offer. good work-life balance good mentorship(at least in my team) I'm lucky that my team members are really helpful when I just get started, when I have questions I can always find the right people to ask and it works well. Also my manager is really nice and cares about my growth.

Cons

low starting salary lots of red tapes bullying new hires you need to know how to deal with people like a politician to survive, experienced employees like bullying and stabbing others(especially against new hires) in the back. Technical skill is less important than communication skill. You performance is evaluated by whom you know not what you know. Starting salary is the same for all new hires regardless of their background(and it's below the average). No matter if you a CS major or business major, the salary is all the same as software developers

Pros

- Great work environment with 'open office space' - Collaborative environment, everyone here is extremely friendly (except for infotainment, but that's just mini-China in it's own bubble) - Great work-life balance, you could probably play pool and Foosball all day if you wanted - Great place to spend the rest of your life if you have a family

Cons

- Non-existential career development, lots of talk, but no action - Dated tech stack, expect to fight with GM's tools before getting any productivity out of them - Expect to be pidgeon-holed to a very specific role and excel in it. Very much 'Cog' in the machine feeling although it may not look like it - This "Red tape" you hear of is especially true here. Good luck pushing 1 line of code without scrutiny from your boss, your bosses boss, possible affected bosses, and coworkers. - Agile is nonexistent here, though they like to dress it up like it is. It's waterfall design is starting to become dated and it shows in their software process - Managers managing other managers who manage their employees. Great autonomy though, but unnecessary middle management is a big thing here. - Prepare to play office politics if you want to make it here. - Lots of underutilized potential employees. I see so many brilliant minds squandered on battling politics and working on non-value added tasks here
