Amazing work life balance

Pros

This is a great place to work if you're looking for work/life balance. The company is full of smart, driven people - yet I think our Midwestern values help temper that with a healthy dose of respect for life outside of work. Whether you need time to tend to your family, or just want time for yourself, the culture genuinely allows for you to meet the needs of your outside life. You'll work hard while you're at work, but you can also take care of all the other things that matter in your life.

Cons

Part of the Midwestern values also means we are risk averse and s-l-o-w to act. Some days I'm amazed we can even turn a profit, given how much churn and swirl there is to make the most seemingly simple of decisions. Everything takes much longer than it should, and the number of people required to make a decision is comical. At times we seem to be our own worst enemy - it's almost like people are afraid to act and just get things done. It's like they're more comfortable with everything taking a long time and staying in a state of flux.

Horrible for diversity

Pros

Great brands, some great people, easy place to live

Cons

Not at all tolerant of anything different, if you're not a white male with an MBA from an Ivy League, or lucky enough to be the token woman or person of color you will not succeed. Culture is not tolerant of diversity, nasty comments, threatening behavior.
