Pros

Company is growing again, great employees, potential for growth. The salary for the position I held is at or above average for the role at other companies. I always felt my work was valued by my director and manager. Higher management is very engaged with the field for example the VP of distribution knew all of the names of the supervisors in each of the buildings throughout the network.

Cons

Tenured peers and managers are difficult to work with and resistant to change. Work life balance is a challenge due to potential OT and sixth day that you are required to work when it is busy. Path to upward mobility is unclear. The company is attempting to expand but is not adding the support needed to do so in the areas of supervisor, maintenance or HR staffing. This is not the fault of the company but the location of the facility is not great. Fishkill is located in between Poughkeepsie and Newburg which are urban wastelands infested with drugs and crime. Rent in the area is outrageous and homes in the decent areas near the building are priced highly and have oppressive property taxes.

Pros

The company has excellent values and really tries hard to do what's right for employees, customers and the community. The benefits are very good, the 401K contributions are matched dollar for dollar by the company up to a certain percentage, health insurance is not too expensive and I loved the employee stock purchase plan.

Cons

It may have been specific to my region or district but we had a very high turnover in management. They restructured store management and removed a position from each store leaving us with too much responsibility and not enough people for the job. They restructured middle management to be by volume and not geography, which I think was a mistake because our customers shop at whatever stores are in their area without regard to its size. This creates a disjointed experience for customers and segregates you from your neighbor stores. The company often made last minute decisions in reaction to business trends, after the fact, and didn't put enough thought into planning promotions with anticipation of the repercussions. We never had time to plan our business properly because we were always playing catch-up.

Pros

-Discount across the brands -Easy tasks when not over loaded

Cons

-Being left alone at all times so it is very hard to do anything other than watch the door, but if you don't man the fitting rooms or refold anything in back, you're a lazy employee, or it's always your fault something is stolen while you're checking on something else. -It became very apparent that there was no room for improvement and that management is only that because they are all a clique. -When a manager realizes you are actually competent, they will give you a ton of jobs with high expectations and a fast turn around time, but will not compensate you for your efforts.
