Pros

Great benefits and discounts Good work atmosphere Understanding Leadership Every store is different so you can't take my experience and compare it to your local store, but I can say that the management team that I work under is pretty wonderful, with the exception of two people, but that's a given at every job. They are understanding, helpful, very knowledgeable in their career. I always can come to them and they know exactly how to help or fix the situation. The training period was a wonderful process. I learned a lot and after only a week of working there I was pretty much running the Kids and Baby floor all by myself and I've only been here for 6 months now and now I do run the Kids and Baby floor by myself. My manager even told me, K&B is yours, we know we can trust you to run things up here and train others to know how to run things up here, we really count on you around here. So it's nice, knowing that my management team notices my work and they do really pay attention to their workers and treat them with respect. I can say that I like where I work, and am glad that I get to work with a positive team and in a great store!

Cons

Pressure to sale Gap Card Low Pay Not enough hours available Too many daily discounts for customers Gap does not give enough hours to it's workers. I know it's retail and your hours can vary by how well the company is doing, but it's hard for your workers to live a stable life on a low income job that is mainly part time. Also, the pressure of always getting a new Gap Card enrollment is getting ridiculous! The customers hate coming in and being badgered about the Gap Card. I have a lot of customers roll their eyes and stop me halfway through my Gap Card speech, because people are just tired of being hounded about getting a credit card. Also, hate to say it but Gap has taught their customers how to be cheap: With all the promotions and deals going on all I hear from customers is: "Anyone who pays full price for anything at Gap is stupid." "I would never pay full price for anything here." "What's on sale?" "Are there any extra discounts today." "Are there any coupons today." "I won't get that, I'll just wait until it goes on sale." This is what I hear from customers daily. If sales are down for the Gap company, this is why, customers expect to get everything on a discount price, Gap has single handily turned their business into an outlet. I don't know about you guys, but I thought that is what Gap Outlet is for. It's time for Gap to slow down on the promotions and coupons and go back to how things were before and cater to the customers that are willing to pay full price for great quality clothes and let the other customers spend time at Gap Outlet if they want cheap deals.

Pros

30% off Gap and Banana Republic Factory clothes (10% off clearance) 50% off retail clothes (includes gap and banana). 25% off Old Navy. 10% off clearance. The company is very proactive in many policies such as equal pay, and shrinkage. Coworkers are nice. Company as a whole cares a lot about ethics.

Cons

Training was awful 5 hours of watching videos. There is a lot of favoritism and it is made very know by management. I have been working here for 6 months and still haven't been in a register and they won't let you until you have been 'scheduled' to learn. Some employees will be scheduled to do the same task every single day which makes work so boring instead of teaching your staff to be able to do every job and having flexibility of who can work when.

Pros

Old Navy specifically does a lot to try and create a fun culture. They embrace individuality and I enjoy being able to be and wear whatever I want to work. Everybody is very smart and hard working which is inspiring. There is a lot of flexibility to work from home which is nice.

Cons

Being that it is such a large company, there is not a lot of room for creativity. This can be frustrating at times.
