Horrible place to work.

Pros

Co-workers are experienced and knowledgeable (of those who are left)

Cons

No pay increases (will be 6th year) Sub par benefits and time off. When other companies were giving their employees bonuses due to the corporate tax cut, Gallagher gave its employees what it always gives them-lip service about how much they care. This is a company that managed to have zero federal income tax in 2018. Yet, if you are an employee that works in any type of service support capacity you will not be given a pay increase. Not even a cost of living adjustment. This will be year 6 without a pay increase. And what makes it even worse is that your constantly bombarded with corporate emails telling you how well the company is doing and the great work our employees are doing blah blah blah. And to top it off they are constantly touting their "Ethics" award from the Ethispere. "We've been named one of the most ethical companies for the eighth year in a row" crows Pat Gallagher. What is the worth of an "ethics" award where you, as the company, nominate your self and then pay the Ethisphere to use their logo or to advertise in their magazine or attend posh dinners for 8K a table in Manhattan? This company would nominate themselves for the Nobel Peace Prize if they could. Not very ethical leaving your employees to work for the same pay year after year while you make billions. But, alas this is the true Gallagher Way.

Terrible Management

Pros

There are some truly great employees at this office but management is so horrible that it completely overshadows this positive aspect of their office. Nice location in a city with plenty of other opportunities for employment.

Cons

Absolutely horrible management that will tell the employees they are like family but they actually treat most of the employees like dirt. Don't come to them with a problem or concern because they will either ignore you or find a way to get rid of you. The only option is to take the abuse or shut up or quit. All they care about is sales and getting more business in the door without spending any more money or dedicating any more resources on support. That's why you see lot's of reviews about poor work life balance at Gallagher. They work the lower level employees to the bone for little pay and very little opportunity for advancement. And the sales team is under such pressure to get more business there is a ton of backstabbing and underhanded maneuvering going on to get new sales. Management in cutthroat, deceptive and completely out for themselves. They do a wonderful job of talking about their culture and values but once you work there you will soon realize it's all a bunch of nonsense. Employees are belittled and treated poorly. The pay is weak and so are the raises (if you even get one). Gallagher will squeeze every dime out of their employees to increase their bottom line and drive that stock price up. If you are considering working here I strongly recommend you find several former employees that will talk straight with you.

Gallagher High School

Pros

Overall the company has decent health benefits and a robust wellness program. Some people are great to work with. Carrier lunches and seasonal parties are a nice bonus. There's not much more good I can say

Cons

Where do I begin. First and foremost, I have been here several months now and have yet to be trained very much in my role. We have a team structure, yet no one on my team has made the effort to make sure I am trained in depth in my duties. Aside from that, as I mentioned in the title, it is much like high school here. If you like dealing with drama bullying and cut throat people going behind each other's backs, then this is the place for you. People are more worried about cliques and office politics than actually doing their jobs. While the office is mostly women, it is very obvious that the men are much more valued here. The workload in grossly unevenly distributed. And the biggest kicker is that the salaries are way below industry standard. And don't even think about getting a cost of living increase or even a deserved raised. It's worse than pulling teeth from what's being gossiped around the office. Unless you're in good with the office manager or the branch president, forget being valued as an employee. Those that are, get special treatment that's very apparent to all.
