For the most part the staff is comprised of intelligent, hard-working people. Training and continuing education is provided and encouraged. Broad network of resources available throughout the organization, which is very helpful.

Cons

Expect to put in a lot of long hours and be expected to be available evenings/weekends. There's quite a bit of favoritism and chauvinism displayed.

Pros

The people at Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. can best be described as friendly and encourage growth within the company. They want to see you succeed and are very flexible to let you pursue any ideas you may have. As an intern, I was able to learn more than I ever thought and actually do hands-on activities in the industry that will help me with my future career.

Cons

If I had to say a con, it would be that the insurance knowledge required to do your job successfully can be overwhelming, but if you have a desire to learn it can also be very exciting.

Quarterly meetings with clients; selling GB's nurse triage program and facilitating implementation; developing relationships with branch offices; suggesting a program change and having it make a positive impact on client program.

Cons

Training not as promised; most of the job centered on facilitating telephonic claim reviews; my skill set and talents not utilized; working with very small employers who know very little about various lines of coverage, particularly workers compensation.
