Pros

GLG has been my work home for ten years now, starting as an entry level associate and rising to a senior business leader at our firm. Over the years I’ve seen our culture and mission transform, but what has never changed is the root of who we are: a meritocracy built on the foundation of great people. While we’ve had our ups and downs over the years, in the past 12 months what is abundantly apparent is that we are bringing the magic back to GLG. Our leadership team is rock solid, our people are here for the right reasons, and we are fundamentally changing the way companies gather and share insights. My team spends their days talking to the senior most leaders at Fortune 100 companies, helping them bring products rapidly to market, and for folks right out of college they see that as a tremendous opportunity that their peers at other firms never get the chance to experience. The energy we feel every day by being a part of something influential, and built on foundational partnership with our customers, keeps us raising the bar for ourselves and each other. I’ve never been more excited about my job largely because of the unbelievable people around me who push me to be better, but also because of the amazing customers I get to work with who value our daily support. Our leadership team while new, has quickly embraced what remains pivotal to our people: employee fulfillment through intellectual stimulation, the autonomy to bring great ideas forward, and a culture based on merit and hard work instead of political agendas. GLG has defined my career and the foundation I’ve built here will last a life time.

Cons

It all comes back to the bigger picture and your ability to see the forest through the trees. The first few years of your career (here or anywhere) will require you to go above and beyond what is being asked of you: not just what the customers require but how we make GLG the best version of itself for each other. If you want to clock in from 9am to 5pm and be an order taker this won’t be the right place for you, because you will quickly fall into that mindset and miss the massive opportunity right in front of you. The people who rise here are the ones that put in the hard work, but also question the status quo, innovate, and proactively raise the bar. That’s not for everyone.

Pros

the pay is decent enough you work on interesting projects that you will later hear about in the news

Cons

if you have previously worked anywhere else, don't bother trying to bring any new ideas or advice. your colleagues will be fresh out of college, and your boss will be your age or younger. The average tenure of a new hire is roughly 1.5-2 years. don't expect to make a career out of this the hours are long, as you are expected to respond to clients until 9pm and on the weekends. they will tell you work hours end at 5:30pm, but you are reprimanded for leaving "on-time". there is no traditional lunch break. if you or your team are busy, you don't get to leave.
