Bad leadership

Pros

This used to be a good place to work. Things have gone rapidly downhill in the past year and are getting worse, particularly in Europe.

Cons

Very senior leaders, particularly in Europe, seem very comfortable with nepotism, lies and discrimination.

Pros

- Unlimited time off and holidays are the best part about working here - Develop skills in phone etiquette, sales/recruiting, communication, etc. - Solid base salary for first job out of college - Super easy to get by, putting in minimal effort and barely caring will still keep you employed - You get to put you worked there to get another job to not work there

Cons

- Glorified LinkedIn button pusher - Mind-numbing work/recruiting requests from clients - Spend 70-80% of your day copy and pasting leads from LinkedIn into the system - Clients cancel calls more than they schedule them causing you to miss monthly and quarterly goals - Quarterly bonus isn’t even an incentive based off the work you do - Pointless meetings and meetings to see if you understood the meeting - Some micro-managing from people with less than 3 years of professional work experience - False positivity and fake corporate lingo

Pros

Every 15 days free lunch or breakfast

Cons

Managers at this organization do not trust their employees and micromanage them and what is worst is that this issue appears to be across the globe in their different offices which shows the type of culture at GLG. There is no opportunities to grow within the Council Development Team and it is impossible to move to a different business unit. They offer the opportunity to work in a different country which it is nearly impossible for most of the employees at GLG as they can't sponsor you in most of the countries they have operations. In addition to this, Managers can be childish and bullies with their own employees. Managers at GLG also love giving negative feedback and do not praise for the hardwork and good results. The job is super monotonous and boring. Do NOT join this company, this is why everyone that has gotten a chance has left and please read other reviews. Majority will be negative which will show you it is not a good employer.

GLG Response
4y
We’re sorry to hear about your experience. We hold our managers across the organization to a much higher standard than the one described. After getting feedback from GLGers like you, we set about reducing the size of our teams, while offering more robust manager training. This ensures GLGers have the support they need as they grow within the company, without impacting overall headcount. We understand not everyone wants to lead a team, so we created more opportunities for strong individual contributors to get promoted without taking on leadership responsibilities. We’ve also redesigned client-facing roles to offer a deeper sense of account ownership for our colleagues looking to develop those skills. The role you had is challenging and not a perfect fit for everyone. That’s why we have a dedicated Mobility Team to help GLGers with any cross-departmental moves. We regret we couldn’t address your concerns while you were still with the company but wish you all the best in your new role.
