Pros

The mission is worthwhile: increasing LGBTQ representation in media Some colleagues are great

Cons

The Senior leadership team, despite winning media awards, is clueless, manipulative, and unwilling to make decisions for the good of the organization. You will work long hours in the name of working at a “hybrid for profit/non profit media/marketing org.”They also spend money like water because the CEO believes she’s the head of a Corp like Condé Nast. Some programs teams have no leadership and do whatever they want, spend what they want without oversight, and have no governance. They call themselves experts but have no formal expertise. Many teams don’t enjoy working with them. HR has no power because senior leadership has disempowered them. GLAAD doesn’t value the dollars donors give them. The funds are spent carelessly. This is not a great place to work.

Pros

GLAAD was an amazing place to work back in the day.

Cons

The CEO makes $500k. CEOs at other orgs whose fundraising dwarfs GLAAD’s make half that. Greed is the motivator. It’s vile to think how much good $500k could make in the lives of LGBTQ folkx. GLAAD hasn’t been about social Justice nor the movement it was born out if in the 1980s in decades. Time to close shop. Donors should not give to an org who CEO makes this amount when the rest of the staff make peanuts.
