-Get to choose exactly the research you want to do, in the specific country you want -Your project is self designed so you can work with whoever you want, when and how you want -Great alumni network

Cons

-The pay is just a living stipend, so don't expect to be saving money. Although I was able to live very comfortably in Ghana -The time between applying and acceptance is very long (I submitted my application the first week of September, and didn't find out I was accepted until the end of April)
