Pros

FS is one of the leading hotel companies and so the training and experience are highly sought after by other employers. It is always in pursuit of excellence, and pours enormous resources into this quest, which I found admirable. Many other hotel companies are purely focused on the bottom line. They treat the line staff very well. The potential for career growth is strong, and International transfers are common so it can be a great way to see the world and work with people from other cultures. They provide complimentary room nights and discounts on Food and Beverage to all employees, typically 5 free nights after one year of employment, with restrictions.

Cons

While FS treats it line staff very well, it demands a lot of its managers. All managers are required to work a minimum of 10 hours per day, and often times need to work more hours to get the job done to the high standards demanded. While this can be understandable once and awhile, they do not return the favor during slow times and you cannot go home under 10 hours even if your work is done. ( some exceptions made for special situations) Decision making is concentrated in senior management. As a mid level manager I did not feel empowered to make all the decisions I could have made on my own...always had to run things past one level up even though the outcome was predictable.

Pros

The Four Seasons has a great track record from hiring and promoting employees from within. Great benefits such as free room nights and 50% off food and beverage while visiting any Four Seasons also add to the great perks of working for this hotel chain. The high level of standards and the strong work ethic that is taught to employees is admirable and makes people proud to be a part of this company.

Cons

Working on holidays and weekends.
