Disappointing change in culture

Business Outlook

Pros

Consistent growth, key industry, overall good opportunities to work on relevant technologies. Benefits, pay, and employee programs are good for a large company. Real efforts to diversify leadership.

Cons

Original Fiserv culture was pretty good, and it generally felt like employees were valued, though annual layoffs to cut cost were disheartening. New culture feels like employees are simply line items in the expenses, or boxes on an org chart. Draconian policies ending hybrid work schedules, purging remote employees, and hiring location restrictions in NJ show a huge disconnect with reality. HR communications tries to put a good spin on the decisions, but it will cripple productivity and has driven morale even lower.

Pros

Enjoyed work, teamwork collaborative environment, great direct management, stock match, diversity and inclusion, client offerings, fast-paced environment, best technology in the industry.

Cons

Antiquated banking mindset that employees need to be physically in the office, That they care about employees is only on paper, the company only looks after the company and senior leadership, employees are monitored and not treated like adults, no transparency in communication - upper management only knows the real truth, promises mean nothing, frequent lay-offs that coincidentally are of people with tenure that are close to retirement or that are paid well after working for the firm for many years, trimmed the middle management and now there are very few layers of management, No true path for progression in current career path - you will have to leave a career path and apply for something else or leave the company, don't believe the hype about meritocracy as you will only receive a 1-2% bonus if you are lucky despite your efforts toward company goals.

Pros

Pockets of great team members still left

Cons

- Annual RIFs - Low morale - Mandatory relocations - Little to no WFH options for the majority of employees - Expensive benefits - Stock is flatlining - Compensation packages lag far behind industry cohorts - New CEO Frank Bisignano's favorite expression: "Attrition is our friend."
