Pros

Cutting edge technology in the banking industry. Really fun people. Challenging assignments. Really fun people. Free soft drinks. Very flexible management in terms of time off, needing to leave early, etc. No sick days, but all time off days is great...no BS there. A lot of online administration of your HR stuff, which is good...no annoying paperwork/keying mistakes, etc. Did I mention fun people who "care"? Devs get full control over their PCs. No hinderance to install software, try it out, uninstall, etc. Devs have ability to stand up their own servers and test out things that they want to. Large "underground" movement of "alternative" applications written by devs in spare time. T

Cons

Limited number of opportunities to move around in technical roles. "pigeon hole" mentality to technical staff. Resume's essentially useless, as only what you've done at CheckFree really matters when it comes to developers. Middle Management tends to be unskilled technically, yet managing techies which makes it challenging to evaluate staff effectively. Good maintainable code doesn't matter as much as short term deliverables, which can mean higher maintenance costs....which leads to outsourcing to India through Fiserv. The cafeteria is not as good as you think it is for $3 a day. The food can be quite nasty at times. Beware of that "benefit". Not getting paid for time off you don't use is a bad benefit. Can get annoying at times to see more folks hired on to support business relationships than actually fix the technical problems that the business customers have. The Dublin building has massive temperature issues. 3 year PC cycle is too long for laptops. Devs get crippled by the end of year 2. Productivity drops.

Pros

This is hard to answer because the culture that made the place so good to work at is changing.

Cons

From an IT perspective, company changes don't appear to leverage the employee skills that brought Fiserv into the fortune 500. Checkfree management individuals and practices have been placed at the highest level in the new IT infrastructure. Their practices and policies counter Fiserv's historic ability to think outside the box, rapidly adapt to change and deliver innovation while controlling costs.

Pros

Pay is above average for industry with good compensation with good fringe benefits like time off as needed for family events and emergencies.

Cons

There is little or no communication on future job plans and any time away from the office is expected to be handled with outside work. If you are issued a handheld PDA you will be expected to work 24x7x365 even on holidays.
