Pros
Decent benefits. Competitive wages for union employees and upper management. There are some opportunities for advancement if you are patient and make the right people happy. The company has the dealer rights to the oil sands. A good amount of vacation time is granted to employees. Full support is given when there is a family crisis.
Cons
The company continually hires friends and family, something they tout as being one of Finning's biggest strengths, however it is surely one of their greatest weaknesses as weak and unqualified employees are protected by friendship and family ties. The company rarely hires the best employee for the job when they post them on the company site, so don't be discouraged, the only reason you weren't hired is the fact that someone has a friend in HR or management. Supervisors are paid less than Journeymen resulting in continual poor planning and weak candidates being hired. The payroll department struggles to maintain proper pay so going over every stub with a fine tooth comb is necessary. There is little-to-no company pride.
