Pros

There are good people in that company, some love their job, I really liked mine too on a good day.

Cons

Before you decide to sign on the dotted line, verify that what you have been promised in terms of potential, software and other development practices, engineering teams and expertise actually exist because when I worked there, it didn't and I've seen job specs recently out in the market (April 2021) that are um.... fictional. To say the least. I've seen references in recent ads to 'event driven architecture', 'microservices', software development. That expertise does not exist at FIS currently (April 2021). When I joined, the interview process was rushed and it's only with hindsight that I realised the purpose of that: bait and switch. The person interviewing me did not turn out to be my line manager in the end, despite it being claimed at the time. My boss was someone else entirely who started at the same time as I. That person I would not have chosen to work for because of his poor skill set. Bait and switch happens for a reason. I experienced very poor life/work balance because based in the UK, I had to support both the UK and the US. On my own. 12 hours days were common and I worked weekends sometimes. On top of that, the senior director constantly bugged me on Slack. I had to do some of my line manager's work because he lost his nerve around anything complicated. A very stressful work environment that over promises in terms of reward and under delivers. A lot of staff, including contractors, left early 2021 and I believe they are trying to build up capabilities now. Do not believe for one second that much of what is advertised already exists. If "hands on" is mentioned in the job ad, expect much of your time spent on Jenkins / GitHub / troubleshooting something that's been broken for months.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and sharing that you enjoyed working with the colleagues at FIS during your tenure with us. Unfortunately, since you are no longer an active employee, we can’t work to improve your experience but we would like to share that we do solicit colleague feedback through multiple channels including our engagement surveys on an ongoing basis to improve colleague experience. Best of luck to you.

Pros

Be employed for 16 years and being terminated. Pro can't think of one.

Cons

Don't worry about not having to go through training classes, they don't have any. Each department makes their own rules. After 16 years of service management picked on me dismissing me from the company. Especially when I was hospitalized for the COVID Virus. Management says that they are not a customer contact service but they are for Client Relations. A hint take orders and do not question them, or they will find a way to terminate you. You can reach out to Executives in Jacksonville and it will not help you.

Pros

Location and ability to work remotely

Cons

No structural training programs, lack of opportunity for development and growth, poor leadership, discriminatory workplace culture. Growth in the company is not based on performance. People are hired for senior and manager positions who are not more qualified than internal candidates.

Unfortunately, since you are no longer an active employee, we can’t work to improve your experience. But we would like to share that as an organization, we strive to provide an environment where employees can take advantage of all the career opportunities FIS offers. A recent example of this is the Grow Your Own Career portal which was launched based on direct feedback from employees and provides career development advice for employees and their managers to guide them through their career journey at FIS. We also encourage employees to speak with their manager about finding them a mentor within the company, and/or a potential cross-functional opportunity where they can collaborate. Good luck on your career journey.
