Pros

My immediate team and manager were great to work with (even up to the VP level), everyone is friendly and helpful.

Cons

Almost all of senior management is white males. There are a few non-white males however it is not proportional to the population at large. The company is full of double speak, the CEO often says "I want this to be the last company you work for" however nothing they do makes that true, the company does not offer benefits that are competitive with any tech company or Fortune 100 company (which they are aggressively trying to become), the insurance is expensive and they make you pay for benefits that often are included at other employers (such as LTD and STD). They also only offer a 3% 401(k) match when you contribute 6% which is not competitive. Finally the company only cares about shareholder value and nothing to proactively retain employees (most people I know could only get decent raise when they had another offer on the table), the final straw for me was when the company didn't pay bonuses in 2021 but at the same time announced a $13 Billion share buy back program, which will directly make the executives richer. The bonus goals were set pre-COVID and management basically said "well you didn't meet the goals so we aren't paying" while at the same time sending emails saying how we went above and beyond in 2020 given the circumstances. Management could have easily done only an $11 Billion share buy back and used $2 Billion to fund the bonus pool and provided COLA raises.

Pros

Getting to see all of the upper management get promoted while the worker bees do not get a yearly raise or bonus.

Cons

A complete mess of an organization. The left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing and I have never seen so many client complaints than I have since I have been working for FIS. No one cares about you as a person, you’re just another robot at a machine, but to be a success you have to have ambitious employees that are motivated and encouraged to succeed. The only motivation I have gotten so far is to look for a new job. The health benefits for a company this size is also laughable. You are not offered a PPO you only have the option for a high deductible plan or an even higher deductible plan. If you get sick you will go broke.

We appreciate you taking the time to review us. As you know, 2020 was an unprecedented year for the world and for FIS. We unexpectedly and quickly pivoted in several areas to ensure we were laser-focused on what’s important, and that is our colleagues, clients, and communities. This included investments in new health and safety protocols throughout the organization and new wellness programs, including COVID-19 time off and enhanced medical, well-being, and mental health resources. With that being said, FIS is not immune from the financial impact the pandemic has had on businesses globally. As a result, we are facing an unusual compensation year for 2021. You identified yourself as a current colleague, so we encourage you to communicate often with your manager and let them know any challenges you may be facing and create solutions together and you can also report any of your stated concerns through a member of the People Office, or through the various intranet channels available or the FIS Ethics Hotline.

The Only Constant is Change

Pros

Decent benefits, lots of PTO (if you actually get to use it), decent salary with a bonus if you're eligible, flexible work from home even Pre-Covid.

Cons

So. Many. Politics. Massive company that struggles under its bloated size. Layers and layers and layers of management that shuffle around every six months. Lots of turnover. Everything is decision by committee. Doesn't know how to grow organically - only grows by acquisition and then never fully folds in the acquired company. Technology company that doesn't know how to use technology. Then down to an employee level they tell you to "Be Bold" and have "No Limits" yet don't you dare stray out of your own swim lane or you will get your hand slapped. Lots of promise on a career that can go anywhere only to wind up facing roadblock after roadblock. Either the company has dinosaurs that have been there forever as it's the only job they've ever had, or they hire millennials on Walk in Wednesdays only to have them burn out and quit after six months. If you need a job it'll do for the short term - but it's where careers go to die.

Thank you for your review. Change is something we face in an industry that is ever-changing itself. As one of our core values, we encourage our colleagues to be the change for our colleagues, clients, and communities. This is extremely important when we grow by acquisition, which does take time to fully integrate people and processes. We wish you the best in your career journey.
