Pros

Amazing people, definitely room to grow and you can easily move to other positions/groups within the company (vertically and laterally)

Cons

In comparison to other companies, horrible pay. On average there is a 2-3% raise every year which doesn’t even account for inflation. While I enjoy working at the company, it’s a lot of politics. Big whigs creating timelines and contracts with the client without involving the developers, BA’s, testers, etc.. it’s very frustrating. The newest core banking system is a very immature product and the growing pains are evident. Too many PM’s and not enough soldiers to do the work, and most people are forced to work overtime to meet deadlines. If you’re looking for a place for work satisfaction, I don’t think this is your company.

Seriously, DO NOT WORK HERE

Pros

It's a job with a paycheck. You are not appreciated here. They say you are, but they do not show you. schmarmie car salesmen that do not appreciate the work you might bring.

Cons

This company does not trust its employees in the US. They remove all permissions from your laptop to basic maintenance. You can't even defrag your disk or remove temp files! Yet the Indian employees are given access to Production and all Client information, while US employees who have supported the Production platform for years are locked out! All this company cares about it making sure shareholders get big returns (The 1% who don't pay taxes) and to Hades giving you the tools to successfully do your job with high quality. They say they support remote, yet half the time you can't get connected because the dozen or so end point scanners running on your laptop blocks your connection. Helpdesk doesn't know what they are doing and can't work outside their scripts.

We appreciate your feedback and are continually working to enhance the colleague experience. Like other organizations, FIS experienced a rapid shift to remote work as a result of the pandemic. About 95% of our colleagues worked from home for most of 2020 and 2021 with little or no impact on the computing experience. We are now moving to a hybrid work model and deploying technology to support access and collaboration regardless of location. IT SECURITY: Our policies adhere to the principle of least privileged access. Workstation end-points are in place to protect our customers and colleagues, and they are consistently applied across the globe. GLOBAL (INTERNAL) SUPPORT: We measure colleague satisfaction on an ongoing basis and use the results to upskill and train our technicians. As a result, the Global Support team consistently exceeds their ambitious service levels. Since you are no longer an active FIS colleague, we can’t get more details on your feedback with regards to the other cons you have mentioned but we wish you the best of luck.

Soul-sucking, but stable

Pros

- Good work-life balance outside of release crunch. - People generally pretty nice below exec level. - Handled COVID well with shift to WFH. - Pace of work usually very slow and often predictable (also a con). - Company is big and profitable and won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

Cons

- Below-average compensation and benefits. - Not a team atmosphere, no sense of achievement or success, just a never-ending grind. - Execs lead through fear and publicly shame entire teams on mass e-mails. - Company is so big that you can go days to weeks without having a meaningful interaction with colleagues. - Advancement seems to be based on length of service more than ability; many people who are very nice, but not really cut out for managing people and/or projects performing management functions. - Decision makers are usually people with decades at FIS and little outside perspective; tool chains and processes are dated, with few opportunities to build skills applicable outside of FIS. - Internal communications openly tell employees that their #1 motivation should be to pump the FIS share price, company “values” are lip service and nothing more. - Delusional level of agile process worship and self-back-patting in meetings when most teams are in fact just putting an agile bow on waterfall practices. - Organizational politics constantly hamper collaboration between onshore and offshore teams.
