Pros

Air Traffic Control is an amazing job like no other. The pay and benefits are great. You have to spend some time in Oklahoma City, a lot of people don't like it, but I think it's a fun town.

Cons

Working on holidays, weekends, and overnights. Many controllers are gossipy. People have (and for good reason) and generally negative view of management. It's the type of job where you can either do it or you can't.

Pros

Unusual to get 1:1 Comp time or 1.5:1 Overtime as an engineer Flexible schedule Government Benefits and Vacation An actual pension plan (thought it isn't what it once was)

Cons

A lot of bad frontline managers Sequestration hasn't hit as hard as some places but the belt tightens again every year. It costs a little piece of my soul every day. No obvious way to move up the Payband since step increases were removed.
