Not for top talent

Pros

Solid foundation of business with industry leading products in many business lines Structured corporate culture Very high emphasis on safety, probably more than most chemical companies Stable jobs, they haven't laid off employees through tough times Very engaging culture. Lots of social events on and off site.

Cons

They advertise career growth and mobility during interviews to attract good talent, in reality it is not that easy. Most middle to high level management positions are "given" to German expats, which is very discouraging for high performing American employees. There is no incentive to work hard. Most employees get an average rating regardless of actual performance. Middle managers are apathetic to the business. Performance reviews are a joke. There is no such thing as career development for Americans. It is reserved for German expats and their favorites. This is a good company for someone who wants an average, stable job. Not for someone who wants career growth or development.

Interesting Work

Pros

The company cares about safety a lot, and the work is definitely interesting. Learning how the processes work is something that continuously changes and adapts.

Cons

Disorganized and growing pains are evident. For a Co- Op or intern, there is often either too much to do at one time or not enough, which leads to sitting around waiting for something.
