Pros

Company success prior 2018. Location.

Cons

Current management of the company treats employees as disposable objects. Company lost close to 60 employees in the last 2 years, most of which left by themselves since they did not see any promising future within Evonik. No professional grow for many, no salaries increase compatible with inflation in the region and annual bonuses nothing but a joke. People got tired of it and leave in a search of better options. The company upper management relies on two principles -Nepotism and Despotism. Some of those who is on the top of the chain have a very limited professional knowledge in the field they try to manage and huge ego. This company has no future, unless something drastically changes on the top of it. Stay away from this company and you will be better off.

We’d like to note that the number of employees reported to have left the site within the last two years is inaccurate. It is our goal to be an employer that our employees are proud to work for, and we continue to provide career advancement opportunities and monitor the market conditions for wages and benefits. Thank you for your feedback, and we will continue to work towards constantly improving as an employer. Pros

Good salary, benefits. Knowledgeable and supportive colleagues to work with on a local level.

Cons

Lack of local decision making authority, decisions made in Germany and mandated for other locations. Work/life balance is stated but not practiced. People are a number or email address and dispensable based on company performance. No real leadership, there are followers of others because of authority, not because of loyalty. If there is a true understanding of the company it is easy to determine that the daily work does not support a meaningful cause.

Pros

The products we make are innovative, special, and commercially viable. I never really worry about our product portfolio or our business outlook. There really are a lot of opportunities in this company; in different job roles and locations. If you are good at what you do and stand out for the right reasons, you will be noticed. The company is taking strides to adapt the company culture to current social issues. Before, it felt old fashioned.

Cons

Your experience is heavily influenced by who your manager and direct teammates are. I see that we do good things in the company, but it's in pockets. We say we offer tools to managers to share with employees, but many managers don't do it, don't prioritize it, or don't know how to respond to their employees' needs. This results in an inconsistent experience. I find that many people struggle to effectively advocate for themselves, which is a necessary skill here. People aren't going to show up and offer you a promotion out of nowhere, you have to put in the work, do a good job, network, look for opportunities, and ask. And if you're trying to move to a job outside your immediate sphere of influence, then you need to find an internal advocate to magnify your voice.
