Pros

Benefits are pretty good and I was fortunate enough to be under an awesome GM that really allowed me to grow and advance.

Cons

Good 'ol boy network at executive level and their lack of communication to the lab level. Unrealistic goals set forth by upper management.

Pros

The people here are great.

Cons

Our benefits are expensive and Cigna is a terrible company to work with. Our vision coverage is confusing and pitiful for a company that manufactuers the best lenses in the world. Only one member of the family can get a frame and lens package each year. If I get glasses one year, my husband can't under our benefits. You don't control your own destiny here. Instead of applying for a job that you aspire to have, you are placed in a position based on your time here, your experience and what your manager may know about your career aspirations. This works sometimes, but seems to cause a lot of angst in the marketing department (the only department that works this way).

Pros

The pay is within industry Norms, opportunities to learn. The company is currently growing at a double digit rate which is great for a 1 Bil + sized company. Growth is being achieved by both organic and through acquisitions. This growth brings does bring about job opportunities. There is so much potential for this to be a great company.

Cons

Once hired into a position, you are expected not to leave that position. People within the company, once they have a perception of what you can offer, expect nothing else and want nothing else out of you. To achieve executive level here you must be French. The executive level world wide has less than 5% non French born executives. At Essilor of America the prevalent thought is to not be proactive about issues. Why pay today when you can pay tomorrow with penalties. You probably will not be there to deal with it anyway.
