Company Motives are Not Pure of Heart. The goal is to make investors happy and help the CEO retire with money.
Pros
A lot of the line people who work at Encompass are great! I've seen a lot of dedicated hard working folks here. The pay was decent and the benefits (although getting worse by the year) are still not too bad. The opportunity to work with leading edge technology is a real plus. This is a geeks toy store.
Cons
The influx of Senior VPs to make the company look more "corporate" is a failed exercise. Many of the top level people hired by the company come with minimal pertinent experience and most seem to have horrible people management skills. Maybe I don't understand what is measured when thinking about hiring a new executive, but it seems like this company reads the "management book" and then does the opposite. In particular there are a few executive managers with really REALLY large and nasty egos who are completely deaf to the needs of the company and its employees. Classic stepping on the fingers hanging onto the ladder as they scramble to climb higher heedless of the people they hurt on the way. Really just a mean culture.
