Pros
At Zimmer you are sustained in part by a firm belief in the quality of the products the company has - quite frankly we have some of the best performing products in the industry. The culture at Zimmer is not as brutal (performance based) as say Stryker which from a work/life balance has upsides. In general, the people at Zimmer are decent, stand up individuals who are good to have a beer with.
Cons
Of late Zimmer has obsessed with bringing in GE expertise from outside to populate VP positions. I maintain that orthopaedics is not a game you pick up overnight and I have oberseved poor decisions being made by senior management without the insight/experience to make better ones. Our CEO is a lawyer and this is evident with the layers of redundant bureacracy that exist. Finally, you need to assume absolute responsibility for your career path as Zimmer do not develop and promote from within like a JNJ.
