Pros
A big bag of products to sell across many areas of hospitals/clinics. Name/brand recognition. New acquisitions almost monthly. Good presence at the shows. Decent/good training. Great job on international expansion.
Cons
Bought too much too fast. The buying of Biomet really hurt the company's health. Bad forecast planning for product availability coupled with the Biomet lines that are having their own problems (well publicized, see shareholder lawsuits) really is killing the sales force and forcing them to loose credibility and soon contracts because we can't supply the demand. Can't blame it on the Biomet folks though as they were thrown into this tough situation. The Persona launch is just one example, still without a revision system, is a nightmare that the folks in upper level do not seem to understand. Switching up the distributorships has seen most going from professional level to amateur hour. The legacy Biomet folks are alright but they fly by the seat of their pants and that's where errors come in. Sometimes you need to stick with bread and butter instead of innovation (products) and turning everything upside down (distributorships). The healthcare landscape wants cheaper with long term results and the company wants more expensive and no long term results, trying to phase out products that are proven. Commissions continue to drop while we do more and more background stuff just to have cases prepared. Seems like there are no experienced people left on the inside that inspire confidence. Almost all the gurus are gone. The wheels are coming off and our customers and competition recognize this. None of this is rocket science and everyone sees it happening. How did this happen so fast and why isn't it being reversed?
