My time at Take a Chef was, unfortunately, the worst experience of my career so far. What affected me the most was the poor leadership. The COO, completely lacked the skills to manage both the company and its employees. His micromanagement style was stifling; he constantly monitored daily activities to the point of changing entire work documents without providing any explanation or guidance on his expectations.
Additionally, the lack of constructive feedback was disheartening. On one occasion, Ruben directly told me that he wasn't giving me feedback because he didn't like working with me. This unprofessionalism extended even after I left the company, when they asked me to continue providing information without any compensation, despite having fired me without prior notice or a fair severance package.
When I stopped cooperating due to non-payment, the CEO, acted vindictively, discrediting my work to potential future employers and blocking future opportunities. I even received threats to continue smearing my professional reputation if I didn't complete additional tasks after being fired without proper compensation.
Moreover, they're actively seeking employees in Colombia and Argentina and firieng those elsewhere because labor is cheaper in those countries.
It is disheartening to share this experience, but I believe it's crucial for future employees to be aware of the environment they might face at this company.
