Pros

The mission, in theory, is good. But each location is autonomous and left to carry it out how they ‘see fit’.

Cons

-Claim to help people get to work but then pay retail workers $10, while senior execs make considerable ($XX,XXX) bonuses annually based on their back breaking work (this is very public info on their 990 forms that can be found on regional specific websites). -Management is very political and if you don’t play the game, you should expect to be taken advantage of. Favoritism and double standards are rampant. -They care more about ranking amongst other Goodwill branches and about the numbers than improving life for employees. I.e. Wanting to ‘serve’ X amount of people, but then buying numbers from partner organizations under the guise of ‘sponsorships’ and using that personal info to count people who have never used the services as served. -Lack of ethics, lack of respect, organizational transitions every 6 months to run after some new initiative and then change it 2 quarters later.

Pros

I get paid consistently. I don't have to stress about restraining people or raising my voice. My clients are friendly.

Cons

The pay is that good. I have to travel to NYC every day.

Pros

Work fulfilling both physically and socially, dealing with donors and fellow employees for this retiree and former legal and business professional.

Cons

Creepy, clannish, petty, and cultish management is more interested in humiliating others under the guise of "following rules" many of their own making than in ensuring that the work facility is properly equipped to handle daily workflow. Communication nonexistent. Managers pop in and out, apparently stationed at some secret location.  Robotic replies to legitimate work questions when they weren't out-and-out nasty.  I've occasionally dealt with this sort of folks, but never an entire collection of them cheering each other on as might appear in some deleted scene from "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." Poisonous and bizarre. Recommended only for the Abnormal Psychology student.
