Pros

- The travel perks - Some gems of coworkers - Interesting industry (Travel)

Cons

Any pros are heavily outweighed by cons: - The travel perks will never justify the poor quality of life for the days you are at work (which let's face it, is the majority of the time) - Very few vacations days to enjoy the perks - Lack of non-vacation perks - Extremely low pay - Poor communication within the company (The gossip is more often than not the communication channel) - Bad management, and this is truly the root of the problem. They have so many beautifully competent employee, yet so few of them are in position of power or management. As people, management are - I am sure - lovely people, but they seriously lack people skills, tolerate bad behaviour, entertain a toxic environment, don't reward or recognize good work. Perhaps it's a question of training or lack of leadership skills, in any case the company and the teams are penalized by it. Management often delay process and are more often than not late or absent for meetings showcasing a lack of respect towards their staff which works both ways. - Finally, they only value money and don't appreciate nor respect their employee, clients or partners. As a business, it's understandable that profit is key. However, what Air Canada Vacations doesn't seem to grasp is the return on investment they could benefit from training and retaining their employee, ensuring consumer satisfaction and loyalty and valuing healthy relationship with partners rather than viewing it like a transaction. The training department does a fantastic job in welcoming new employee and training them, but they are sorely let down by the company itself to retain talent and invest in them. Wishing them the best of luck in their constant loop of hiring new people, knowing the consumer will come back for lack of choice, but hoping they can learn and grow from their mistakes. And to you, if you love to travel, enjoy the perks, make the most out of it, but please get out to sooth your soul when you feel like you've had enough!
