Pros

Decent money of you worked 10+ hours overtime a week

Cons

The new "One Institutional" ruined this division. We used to be heavily commissioned sales professionals that did some service work here and there. Then we turned into hourly service techs that got incentivized on how much we sold. And the targets to hit swung wildly depending on what the company thought was going on at the field level. Also, we used to be compensated for helping cover vacant territories in the form of receiving the commissions that the territory generated and the customers that you took care of (Paid-Caretaking). With One Institutional, the new way forward is to suck it up and help the team. Sure, we got more hours, but what does it matter? We could work the same hours in our own backyards and actually generate sales. But every moment spent with someone else's customer for zero incentive was time and money lost. We told you that this was not right, but you said it was legal....good for you.

Pros

Company vehicle, gas card, work phone.

Cons

Upper Management and HR has no clue what happens in the field. Some men and women in remote territories are on call 24 seven with no one to cover weekends or vacation. During the last three years long-term employees who had a slightly higher compensation rate based on longevity and previous compensation scale were systematically terminated and replaced with new employees making less money and receiving less benefits. As a result district and regional managers are compensated through bonuses for giving the appearance of higher profit margins. When reporting work related injuries to district managers, associate district managers and safety champions employees are asked to work through their injuries, and not take the report further because of being shorthanded and the constant employee turnover and are asked to be a team player. Employees who have stellar records, have never been written up and have won every award that the company has to offer are then critiqued on their work while performing it injured and After repeated requests for help because of the injury. This is not an isolated example! The deficiencies of injured employees are then documented and then used to terminate the injured employee before they even have the opportunity to have their injuries cared for. If you are a current employee of Ecolab or considering taking a position with this company and are the type of individual who wants to be a team player and strives to be an excellent employee PROTECT YOURSELF FIRST! District and Regional managers have the ability to pass information to HR that is inaccurate and misleading that can result in termination of employment with no questions asked to the employee.
