Pros

The people there are wonderful: smart, dedicated, and caring. They have to be. As the world's largest private educational testing and measurement organization, ETS develops, administers, or scores more than 50 million tests annually in more than 180 countries at more than 9,000 locations internationally.

Cons

It's an intense environment given current competition and the demands of being an educational measurement. A test is only as good as the process by which it is created. And no one has created a better process for designing, developing, and administering assessments than ETS. A complex and exacting process, producing a test involves multiple checks and balances and painstaking attention to detail. However, does the general public care about the quality of assessments?

Pros

Social mission. Involvement in national and international discussion on Education. The products and intellectual capital developed by ETS can be found all over the world, and the research we produce influences decisions made about education by governments at the local, national and international level.

Cons

Increased work, decreased staff. Work is increasing to consume 24 hours of the day. Harder to have a good work/life balance. Management is understanding of the need to have a balance, but the work always tends to intrude.

Pros

Reasons have changed since I started many years ago. At that time it was a place that encouraged innovation and rewarded hard work. All that's gone. Now it's top heavy with vps who get huge salaries. Non-profit for whom?

Cons

It's an assembly line like another poster wrote. Quality is secondary. Responsibility to clients is way down on the list. Under Landgraf the core business of ETS is profit and power.
