Pros

The discount is only great until you realize how much they mark product up, then it seems like nothing. Management is usually flexible about needing a day off; however, not always.

Cons

Management is disorganized and can't seem to make accurate projections about inventory/timeframes. They continue to expand with new stores, but froze wages on employees - have they forgotten who gets the product to those new stores? Terrible "mean girl" attitudes/behaviors with some coworkers. Very, very little opportunity for upward movement within the company.

Pros

VERY flexible with hours, emergencies, illness, time off for horse shows, competitions etc. If you don't need to make a living wage from a single job, i.e. student, stay at home mom, empty-nester, employed elsewhere and working part-time for the discount, or have a spouse who earns enough that you need not worry, then it's a fantastic place to be. Most of the other employees are good and caring people to be around and the Supervisors and Managers are fair and accommodating.

Cons

Customers can be abusive and have learned that badgering and screaming will result in them getting their way. Customer Service representatives who go out of their way to help their customers do not deserve to be treated so disrespectfully. Current full-time employees with over 8-10 yrs faithful service and hard work, earn less than $1.75 more per hour than new, inexperienced, part-time employees. It's deplorable how poorly paid the full-time call center employees are.

Fix the problems at the top

Pros

Great discount, co-workers are friendly and there are lots of side benefits from training programs like Ariat, Tredstep, and Horseware

Cons

The company does a bad job of supplying their stores and their warehouse. Is constantly taking stock from the stores to fill warehouse orders. Spends way too much time shipping items back and forth from stores to warehouse instead of carrying enough stock of items. Pay is not very good, and they have refused to give raises since they began opening more stores. The discount is good, but they use that as an excuse to not raise wages. They blame problems on the stores' end, but most of the problems come from higher up. Expanding too quickly, does not have control over their stock. They cut hours severely in January and February.
