Brutal Corporate Experience

Pros

Free cake once a month. The new CEO has made some small changes to the firm that seem promising

Cons

Low company morale, zero organizational culture, hierarchy operated - if you aren't a lawyer / partner you dont matter at all. Not a single person i met at my time at Dentons truly enjoyed working there, everyone is just there until they find their next job - those that stay at Dentons long term are highly unmotivated and unhappy individuals. I worked there for 4 years and in that time there was not one christmas party and they actually make employees pay to attend their Calgary office Stampede party (and no plus ones allowed). Absolutely brutal culture. Low pay for business services staff, high employee turnover, and unmotivated/unhappy people - steer clear of Dentons.

Chaos and Getting Worse

Pros

Nice office space, Jeans Fridays, great co-workers

Cons

Zero communication between staff and management, outdated and buggy computer systems, departments do not work together and operate almost like separate companies, no leadership or clear vision at the top except to acquire new firms to add to the chaos at an insane pace, high staff turnover, attorneys are leaving in droves, financial outlook of the firm is dire.

Pros

There are some very good, hard-working people at Dentons. (unfortunately, many have now left.)

Cons

As they grew to be effectively the largest law firm in the world, they stopped paying attention to what was going on in their own back yard. Know that as a law firm, their emphasis and resources are spent on legal talent which means that if you're not a lawyer, you are a cog in a machine.
