Pros

Good benefits (well being subsidy. Health insurance etc)

Cons

Company imposes "metrics" which composes of utilization - client work percentage throughout the year which is a bs policy because sometimes there are issues with funding and you not being able to charge to the client brings your utilization down. Holidays and pto also work against your utilization and at the year end review that utilization number which is almost impossible to reach is used to determine bonus/raises. I've had years where I didn't reach it and they gave me a sad raise. That utilization was not my fault. I am not in charge of making sure we have budgeting/funding yet it is a factor used against everyone. Also if the company has holidays that also makes you take a hit. The messed up part is you can't even use pto and be stress free because you know when you come back you have that utilization take a major hit (even a week hurts it greatly) even though you accumulate the pto and it is rightfully yours ....doesn't matter. Used against you. Trainings. Whether mandatory or not ALSO count against utilization! But the company requires you to complete them!

Pros

Well, the office has a fancy espresso machine, and sometimes people leave candy on the break room table to help fellow co-workers cope with consistent burnout and feelings of helplessness. So that's nice.

Cons

Have you ever noticed that Deloitte wins "Best Places to Work" in the industry's most prestigious business publications? What's interesting about this is they never share how much they paid for this accolade, or considered actually letting employee's perhaps nominate the company for such awards? If you randomly polled Deloitte employees from around the U.S. of every title, department, and tenure, I can assure you the coveted title of "Best Places to Work" wouldn't be awarded to Deloitte. It would be awarded to Ben & Jerry's or Pottery Barn.

Pros

Good compensation and benefits, lots of opportunities for earlier career people, lots of resources for training and involvement

Cons

The way promotions and recognition work at Deloitte actually seems to incentivize managers and leaders to blame any weaknesses in delivery on their staff, and encourages staff in general to throw each other under the bus. A lot of the evaluation is entirely subjective and if your manager is “throwing you under the bus” to cover up their own deficiency it will affect you. There really is not a lot of factual visibility into the skills and performance of individual team member, which means it’s very easy for a boss you don’t click with to give you bad reviews even if your client and colleagues love you and you are delivering. Deloitte is a popularity contest where being liked is more important than delivery in the eyes of the firm. Emphasizing the wrong thing. Not a good place for an experienced hire who is used to being evaluated based on customer delivery and keeps their heads down to let the work speak for itself. This is a place where kissing up and being liked is much more important than competence
