Pros

The only thing good about that job was seeing and working with all the dresses and making a few friends of the employees that lasted.

Cons

Not only is the pay horrible, but you also work on commission; of which you have to sell around $166 for part-time. Even if you make commission sometimes the higher you make the more that is taken out; so in essence you're actually earning less than the number of commission dollars since your hourly wage and commission earned is put together and taxed. Aside from the pay, the staff is not pleasant. Some co-workers you might get along with but alot goes on behind your back. Managers do not do their job well and as soon as you speak out about that or the bad system they have where commissions can easily be stolen they back fire and retaliate; thus forcing you to either quite or endure frequent harassment. The physical aspect of this job is also very bad. I now have chronic neck and shoulder pains from lift many heavy dresses and have also had a stress fracture in my foot from all the labor.

Pros

Getting to see all of the new wedding gowns was a perk. It was fun working with some of the friendly brides. Some of the workers were extremely nice also.

Cons

Everything! Low pay, bad management, fights between co-workers, and overall low morale in the store. Everyone, except for management, complained endlessly about the very low pay. The management failed to provide adequate training and pressured everyone to make elaborate sales goals. Co-workers actually fought during business hours in front of customers, because of the pressure of the job. Also, some of the brides were actually bridezillas and the mothers complained more than the brides.

Pros

David's has very good hours for a retail job, and Managers are well-paid. There are often company-wide contests and recognition for performance. It is a fun work environment--making dreams come true every day. The associates are on commission, so you are supervising a more professional workforce than in some other stores.

Cons

Communication is poor at times, and priorities tend to switch on a whim. Bonus requirements have been changed in the middle of a bonus period, which is frustrating. Payroll is tight, but that's true in most retail.
