Exciting Transformation

Pros

I'm within my first 6 months and the organization is going through some exciting changes and really embracing transformation starting at the top. I think the trajectory of the company is really positive and the change/transformation will be a key to the future success. The leaders are very down -to-earth and welcoming. If you played in team sports at some point in your life, you will naturally know how to operate in this culture. They are very team focused and competitive. If you show commitment to the company they will quickly embrace you as one of their own.

Cons

With any significant change, some people aren't going to be happy with it. This creates some discomfort but I think its a natural part of change.

Pros

Exciting products and interesting teammates and customers. There is also room for growth within the company.

Cons

Dick’s is starting to exhibit signs of struggling to embrace the future of retail and making mistakes other retailers made prior to going out of business. Stores are getting substantially less hours on a comp basis. Corporate leadership seems to be convinced that by spending less payroll the operators at the store level will be able to somehow better take care of customers and drive a better experience. Dick’s is also focusing on SMG survey results to an insane degree with no apparent concern for running a profitable store.

Employee discount. Great campus. Decent coworkers.

Cons

Awful career advancement practices. They do not promote or reward hard work/talent/lotalty. HR protects bad VPs, Directors, etc and their poor work, while stomping on little guy should they want more from their career. Dirty politics play a huge part in who gets promoted and rewarded. CEO Ed Stack is clueless.
