Dick’s is starting to exhibit signs of struggling to embrace the future of retail and making mistakes other retailers made prior to going out of business. Stores are getting substantially less hours on a comp basis. Corporate leadership seems to be convinced that by spending less payroll the operators at the store level will be able to somehow better take care of customers and drive a better experience. Dick’s is also focusing on SMG survey results to an insane degree with no apparent concern for running a profitable store.
