Pros

Overall, Crowe looks great on paper - mobility policy allows you to work from home when not on the client, casual office, ability to travel and earn points/miles for personal use, comparable benefits and 401(k) as other companies.

Cons

Specifically within the IT Assurance/Audit practice Crowe falls short. The majority of the more seasoned managers, senior managers, and partners are only concerned about the amount of work they sell, with little interest in the well-being of the staff/ senior staff. IT Assurance/Audit does not offer the work-life balance as they say during the recruiting process. Even after talking with my colleagues at the Big 4 they were shocked with the hours we were expected to work. Upper management will pass down their responsibilities to the staff/ senior staff and use the term "learning opportunities" - this ultimately overloads the staff/ senior staff with extra work outside of their job description and working longer hours than needed due to manager ignorance. Projects are usually scheduled for one week at a time (sometimes two weeks) which is an inadequate time to perform an audit. Incredibly high turnover for a company that refers to themselves as a "better alternative to the Big 4". Upper management will often request feedback for improvement - but they will not take any of it into consideration and stick to what works for them and not their employees. Additionally, no bonuses for 1st year staff - which is a slap in the face compared to how much is expected of them.

Pros

Supposedly investing heavily into automation technology but have never seen ROI numbers.

Cons

- Airdropping midwest management down into "satellite" offices or leadership positions without the requisite local connections or technical expertise, respectively. - Giving less deserving and less knowledgeable midwest up and comers a shot at success over local talent. - Very little diversity at the partner level for a global accounting firm. No POC in any leadership positions regionally or nationally. - Too conservative in betting on people that show good track records but that do not fit the Crowe template (i.e. homogenous) - Nepotism is rife within the firm, especially at the partner level - Below market pay - Conservative nature of management and the firm does not allow for timely public dissemination of knowledge or thought leadership.
