Pros

Good enough pay. Remote work

Cons

Firstly, if you are black or Nigerian, you will not be invited for any role that isn't customer support. Even though my CV was good enough for the job and I had scored perfect scores all through, they still didn't invite me for interview no matter how much I tried. My group of friends who are really smart heard about this and all decided to try. Despite getting perfect scores in all the easy tests, we weren't invited for interview. The only role I've seen them employ a Nigerian is Customer Support Representative. Even that, I just got a message one day that my message had been terminated because I am "working for a contractor". I even asked my manager if it was my performance. He said "my performance was excellent". That it was an order from above. I was already certified in Playbooks and Jive (2 biggest products) No explanation. No chance for defence. They said the decision had already been made

Hi there. We're not sure where this assumption came from, as we have numerous people from Nigeria in many positions: https://www.crossover.com/people/temitope-ilesanmi or https://www.crossover.com/people/funmi-emore, as examples. If you'd like to discuss your specific experience with our HR team, we'd welcome you to reach out to them: humanresources@crossover.com

Pros

Good compensation for high roles (VP+).

Cons

I don't know where to start but let me list the things that disturb me most working here: - Lots of firings. To give an example; my team shrinks %60 or so every year and hundreds of people get fired in my team. Only top-performers can survive long. The reason why the teams shrink is that the top management calls it a fancy business term, "Shrink to Grow", and order the other managers to fire %50 of ICs in "this" team, "that" team etc. - The company doesn't give any value to you (especially top management) and they make everything they can to make you feel that way. You're just a number for them (your metric, quality score - "FTAR", etc.), nothing more. - They've just introduced shifts and they want you to work 12 hours a day (in a strict timeslot), including weekends (both Saturday & Sunday) in every 2 weeks. The total hours worked won't change but they want you to work in weird hours (nights etc.). The idea is to create a system that works 7x24 but enforcing this to Software Developers doesn't make sense (we're not Customer Support for which would make sense to work 7x24) but they just don't care. They don't care about work & life balance and they want you to give everything from yourself with the cost of ignoring your kids, wife, family, friends, everything really. - Lots of legacy technologies. There are a few projects that use cutting-edge technologies but most of the time you'll work on legacy (in >20-25 years old codebases etc.) technologies. - No time to learn anything. You have to deliver tickets from day 0, you don't have time to learn and don't expect other people to help you with anything because everyone tries to survive here. - Tracker software that takes webcam shots, screenshots, keeps counting of mouse & keyboard clicks etc. but that's the least of your worries. I won't stay any longer in this corrupted place to keep my sanity, health & family together and I would only suggest this company in case you're in need of money a lot and don't have anything to lose.

We appreciate the detailed feedback you provided. It does appear like this may be for one of the companies we hire for, not Crossover. Most of our teams have flexible working hours and provide ample opportunities to fit your schedule around your life. We also work to provide our teams with the opportunity to grow. This experience overall does not reflect the type of culture we like to see at Crossover, and we'd be happy to review this with our HR team: humanresources@crossover.com

Pros

- Work 100% remotely - Flexible schedule but bear in mind that you get paid by the hour - Exposure to different markets, business models, companies and people around the world - Salaries can be very competitive compared to many countries worldwide

Cons

- No job stability as you are hired as an independent contractor and rotation is extremely high - No paid vacation, sick days, national holidays, etc - No benefits - No career progression - No salary adjustment for inflation, performance, etc - No company culture, there is no Human Resources team - Extreme high rotation including reporting managers, coworkers and employees in general - You need to be in front of your computer all the time where pictures of you are taken, programs and websites are tracked and even the number of keystrokes are measured via a software that must be installed. This software also tracks the hours worked. Ultimately, this is used by the company to pay your salary and/or discount from your paycheck as they see fit.
