One of the reasons we pay above market is to cover the cost of things like insurance and paid leave which would be covered by a traditional employer. With a globally distributed team, it's not practical for us to facilitate those benefits locally, so instead we pay above-market to give team members the ability to make their own decisions about what kind of setup is best for their situation.
