      Pros

      - They have some really impressive (confidential) clients - Great product and development practices! - Very smart and kind group of people - HR is very responsive to feedback - Now that we've truly settled into the new space, the office is pretty nice - 9-5 hours (I guess this is only worth pointing out if you're used to 9-6)

      Cons

      - I think we need to work on being more adept at some of our development practices, such as TDD - While I've never had to work overtime so far personally, I would like to see sustainable work hours be more of a core value at the company. I've noticed that we seem to be kind of "okay" with people working overtime hours to get their work done, or occasionally scheduling meetings outside of 9-5 that you don't TECHNICALLY need to go to, but that you might feel weird not attending. I think if we don't explicitly discourage overtime I could very easily see things getting to a bad place.

      Pros

      Keep in mind I'm probably still in my honeymoon period. That said, I'm thrilled with it so far. I have been given trust and opportunity from day one. There is a corps d'esprit here that goes past the veneer of other places. There are no "brilliant jerks." Kindness really IS important. You can be both honest and tactful here. We punch above our weight and we do projects with huge companies doing some really cool things. The "with" is key. We are not code monkeys and CL is involved from inception to design to implementation.

      Cons

      Since the core hours were reduced from 9-6 to 9-5, that addressed my single biggest concern. My only other one may be sick days. This is an allocations based company so I get that you can have a bunch of sick time but 5 days paid sick time is a bit lean. More people are having kids so this may not scale well.

Currently we provide 5 paid and 5 unpaid sick days for a total of 10 sick days. This is actually above the minimum required by law (which is 10 unpaid sick days).       Pros

      - Varied and interesting projects, with a good variety of clients - Full of smart and talented people - Regular learning sessions (Lunch & Learns) both technical and otherwise - Lot's of free snacks, beer, ping-pong, billiards, 3+1 vacation weeks - pretty much no overtime - nice office space, location

      Cons

      - pay level is average - rigid work hours 9-6 (although there is flexibility in terms of appointments, etc.) - sometimes too little heads-up/transparency when current employees leave

      Thanks for taking the time to write a great review! I’m happy that you’re enjoying the client work, our team, our benefits, and perks like our Lunch & Learns, and snacks. As you’ve experienced, we optimize for in-person collaboration in our office because it reduces friction in work, creates predictability, increases team productivity and therefore avoids overtime! That being said, we have decided to change our hours to 9 to 5 to encourage a positive work/life balance. If you have any ideas or suggestions on how we can make our employee experience even better, I’d love hear them. Our goal is to make Connected the best place to work!
