Pros
Good company to work for in different areas of human resources and particularly in the HR Service Center (Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition, Benefits, and Leave of Absence teams).
Depending on your position, remote working two days per week and other positions remote working 100% of the time except on days when department meetings are held.
If you have a few years of HR experience as a generalist or comparable positions but want more employee relations experience, Compass' HR Service Center would be a good opportunity to strengthen your ER experience.
Field HR like HRBPs travel frequently and cover wide regional areas. If you are not a fan of traveling, an HRBP role may not be a good fit for you but it also would depend on what sector of the business you are supporting as there are different sections under the Compass name like Eurest, Levy, Morrison, BAMCO, Chartwells, Wolfgang Puck, etc.
Managers are generally fair. Very good training provided and lots of resources available to help perform your job. You're eased into your caseloads as a part of your training. Co-workers are helpful. As anywhere, there may be a few cliques here and there but nothing major.
Very good benefits from 401k, health, vision, dental, EAP and more.
Good location with a modern design.
Onsite food cafes and great breakrooms in the different building locations.
Annual bonuses are available but the plan depends on your position.
Cons
Understaffed for the volume of work required which causes burnout no matter what Tier you're hired to work. After about two years (and sometimes sooner), people are ready to move on.
Case volumes are high. If you are an HR Advisor taking inbound calls live, the caseload can be anywhere from 20 - 30 cases at any given time. You'll have about 5 hours taking calls and 2 - 3 hours of "Off Phone Time" to work on your cases. If you are a Senior Case Advisor, caseloads are 50+ cases at any given time and may be required to take on additional cases from other Tiers. This can cause burnout. However, you are given the flexibility to manage your cases in whatever way works for you as long as you get the work done.
The salary is about average and considering it is within the industry. May be slightly better than its competitors (Sodexo and Aramark).
After working there for a couple of years or more, you will have to seek external opportunities elsewhere if you want to improve your annual salary.
