Not bad for the short-term, but get out soon!

Unlike many planning jobs, this one allows your schedule to be during normal business hours 99% of the time with the very occasional late evening or weekend event that requires you to be on site (a handful of times per year in my experience).

Cons

While the title is "Event Planner" a more accurate description would be "Event Data Entry." Occasionally you will be asked your opinion on menu items or furniture sets, but for the most part you just enter your customer's requests into the event management tool. Compass Event Planners aren't very highly regarded among the rest of the industry, so staying here too long could hurt your chances at finding a new job in the industry.

Good marketing programs if your at an account that is big enough to run them. Decent unit support if your unit is on the radar

Cons

not much flexibility to purchase whats best for the unit... always about what is best for the corporate incentives that the unit never sees. Huge amounts of corporate paperwork pulls unit managers away from customer service

Being employed is a good thing.

Cons

No holiday pay. Have a boss that is mentally challanged, threating monster, and lacks ablilty to do anything analytical. Charged to eat food that would other wise be thrown away. Accumulate vacation time every 12 months, not every 6. They never check on lower level management's treatment of employees.
