Too much politics

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

If you thrive on office politics, this is the place for you. If you’re comfortable being an obedient follower, you’ll fit right in. You won’t find experienced engineers here to compete with you; they’ve left for better compensation or more promising career opportunities.

Cons

Favoritism is prevalent: if you’re not chosen, tough luck. Reward goes to those who simply agree; it’s all about catering to the demands of other business units. Other business units hold all the power. Engineering expertise has no value here; the expectation is to attend endless meetings and create simulations and PowerPoint presentations.

Pros

Coworkers were great and usually helpful.

Cons

Unrealistic deadlines, micromanaging, empty promises, unequal treatment, and limited growth. The harder you work the more responsiblity and pressure you will receive for no additional compensation. You are expected to be in the office 5 days a week with little to no flexibility.

Not great

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

Pays well, job security, respected

Cons

Upper management makes decisions blindly. Ex. Steve Timm making a blanket decision to return all employees to in-office without consulting any lower management. Many rude individuals within the company who can say and do whatever they want without repercussion. Lots of long established employees who are stuck in their own way of doing things. Not much openness to new ideas or ways of thinking. Moving around within the organization is next to impossible and many talented employees end up leaving. Dealing with angry customers all day because Collins cannot produce parts. Someone is always passing the blame onto someone else. A very stressful and bleak environment in general.
