Pros

Offers ability to work from home/remotely

Cons

As a seasoned professional I have seen my share of challenging and difficult work environments. And I knew going in that working at an RPO would be tough. But never have I come across as toxic and unprofessional work environment as Cielo. Every day begins with an inbox full of "where's this?" and "why didn't you?" snarky messages that come from an earlier (UK) time zone so your day begins with a verbal flogging. You learn quickly that the group leader does not have your back and is more than willing to sacrifice you and your team. Team members were sworn at (verbally and in email), publicly humiliated, and I don’t say this lightly, mentally abused. The US team is often pitted against the UK team and there’s a constant ‘Us against Them’ vibe which permeates all team interactions. As stated in other reviews, all of these concerns were repeatedly brought to HR and nothing was done. The team often discusses why HR will not address the individual at the root of these issues after so many of us have voiced our concerns. For a company that has very smart women in its top ranks I can’t help wonder why the brand and social team is allowed to be run like an old boys club?

Pros

-Remote work option plus flexible schedule. -Made great friends. -Left. Bonus Pro: -If you love throwing people under the bus, boy is this the place for you!

Cons

The Brand and Social team had a 12 person turnover rate in less than a year. You're not valued by upper management as an expert, co-worker, or human being. You're in constant fear that you're going to lose your job if you fall out of line. If you bring issues or problems to management, you're seen as a 'negative person' and not a team player. Four people were let go in a "restructuring" last year, and since then, all of those positions have been hired back. We lost amazing teammates that Spring, as well as a couple of the best bosses. The managers that were hired to "fix" everything and bring high-level strategy had no experience and did not do their job. You feel extremely replaceable. There were EMPTY promises of promotions. PAY is well UNDER market value. Upper management continues to BULLY and fear monger. We were hourly employees expected to constantly churn out "URGENT" last minute projects, but weren't allowed to "record" our overtime. Both internal and external expectations were never properly managed and all of the work and blame fell on us. We were not given any resources to properly do our jobs because there was never enough importance placed on us. We were expected to be "experts" but were never provided any training opportunities to advance our skills or our career. Cielo has an "own your success" mantra, but it should really say "OWN YOUR SUCCESS, BUT NOT HERE" because that is 100% more accurate. We were denied career advancement opportunities despite multiple attempts to get them and also despite the fact that we were already doing the work for higher positions for ridiculous pay. If you're expecting a level playing field, this is not the place for you. Valid concerns were constantly brushed under the rug and certain people were "untouchable." The scariest part of it all? ALL of this was brought to HR multiple times by multiple people and NOTHING was done about it. Nobody cared. Run. Away.

Pros

Flexible schedule, work from home flexibility, and ample vacation time. Some leaders are great and will really help you propel your career forward, but others have NO interest in helping your career or listening to a team's concerns at all. Was a great place to get into a position and learn some, but NO room for advancement or opportunity.

Cons

Leaders and upper management are NOT concerned with hearing from or helping out entry/lower level employees. If you aren't on board with every single thing they do (even if they are terrible ideas or awful for the team), you are seen as negative or difficult and aren't allowed any upward mobility. I worked on part of a team that was VERY knowledgeable and hard-working and we were not valued at all. Even when we gave management the tools they needed to keep everyone on the team, they hardly listened and kept making empty promises around promotions, etc. Others on my team were fired or let go for the most incomprehensible reasons, bringing the entire morale of the team down and causing our overall ability to provide a quality service to clients almost impossible. Management that was hired on to 'elevate' the team came in with little to no relevant experience and ended up making the entire situation worse, choosing to push their work off to others, not training new team members, and just downright not doing their jobs at all. As an overall team we were expected to deliver high level results with NO resources and then were always reprimanded internally and externally for not delivering good enough results. It always felt like we were running on a hamster wheel with no resources, no appreciation, and no effort to allow us to advance in our careers. Positions were paid WELL below market value and many team members left for MUCH more compensation, further proving that we were paid under fair value. The whole credo of the company is 'own your own success' but that should come with a caveat of 'if you know the right people' or 'if you are on the right team'. I worked on multiple occasions to advance my career by my own initiative but was met with dead ends, no advancement, or just no interest from upper management to even help me along in the process.

I'm glad to hear that you were able to enjoy our flexible scheduling and PTO package but it's alarming to hear that your overall experience with leadership was poor and that you saw little opportunity for advancement.
