Pros

I’ve been with Challenger through the Barbara Baker years and the transition to Hugh’s leadership. Over the course of those many years, i have had totally different experiences based on who was acting as headmaster or director. Some campuses and directors have been great! Others not so much! Solid and easy to follow curriculum Consumables (less photocopying) Good natured kids Some campuses - strong, helpful and positive directors and headmasters.

Cons

Other campuses - Punitive, ignorant, or less supportive leadership. Lack of technology and evolution with the times in the classroom creates challenges in student retention and content delivery (especially science) Lots of grading and constant testing When directors aren’t supportive, parents can become a nightmare CEO isn’t very realistic or considerate towards teachers and parents concerns Pay could be more competitive given outside classroom work expectations

High turnover rate

Pros

The benefits are decent. And it's great for educators.

Cons

This is a very stressful job for educators, and the work atmosphere is filled with pressure. The managers do not do anything to help improve the work environment. It's no wonder that there's a high turnover rate.

No heart

Pros

Great tuition benefits for own children. No copying or planning.

Cons

Not allowed to improvise material given to meet students' needs and abilities. Not encouraged to be creative and versatile in methodology. Very basic technology taught or used in the classroom. Just whiteboard, textbook, and paper. Not keeping up with the times; "we've done this for 50 years and we're not changing" mentality. No respect for teachers. Rigid and cold - no heart. Disrespectful towards clientele and staff. Expels students if their parents are vocal about the school's practices or policies. Fires teachers for standing up for themselves or questioning superiors. That's why I left - I'm not a puppet!
