Pros

Carrier offers good work life balance. People are easy to get along with and it is a good crowd to work with. You get the opportunity to pick up some really good experience.

Cons

Carrier is totally focused on short term results - the company chases quarterly and even monthly sales/margin numbers. Everything else takes a back seat. There is practically no long term plan in place. Management is satisfied focusing on the short term results as that is what their bonuses are tied to. Individual contributions are seldom recognized and almost never rewarded. From a career standpoint, you end up going in circles. There is little scope for advancement typically as the company is extremely cost focused so they end up short-changing employee pay and avoid moving people up (if they do) too fast in an attempt to save cost. The company has some good brands but their cost focus is killing these brands. Overall, this company can be avoided.

Pros

Carrier Commercial Refrigeration (formerly Tyler Refrigeration) was a great place to work before United Technologies purchased it and made it part of Carrier Corporation.

Cons

Carrier Corporate management is the biggest downside to working for Carrier Commercial Refrigeration. They exhibit poor management, poor communication, poor planning and poor execution. UTC might be a great place to work, but only if you are not part of the Carrier group.

Pros

Health and dental benefits, oustanding employee scholar program. Opportunities for advancement nationwide and globally. Carrier is owned by United Technologies which offers its employees opportunities to advance their careers with other UTC owned companies like, Hamilton Sundstrand, Otis, Pratt and Whitney, Sikorsky. UTC also has an excellent quality and continuos improvement operating system known as ACE. The ACE operating system allows employees to master skills in lean principles and quality improvement methodoligies that may be applied in other industries.

Cons

Local leadership is out of touch with employees. The local salaries have much to be desired for.
