Many intelligent and hardworking people have left or were cut 3 years ago in my division. Now we have even more middle managers and less people actually doing the real work. They all come up with "new ways of doing things" which are actually the same "new ways of doing things" six years previously that didn't work. Nit picking over time consuming non value producing activities makes work even more burdensome and less productive.

Management has devolved to a form of false smoke and mirrors accounting, if the numbers look good even through fraud that's all that matters. We were told to coach customers to give us perfect NPS scores and to sell sell sell stuff they don't need. I always felt dirty but not getting good NPS scores will give your manager an excuse to give you a poor review. So in order to get a GOOD review you need to be unethical. Rochester..... Nothing to add. Most parts made in China now and buggy software written there as well.
