Pros

They cook out for you every once and awhile. Employees that aren't management are great. Shop is temp controlled very well. Carmax will pay for your ASE certifications. They have volunteer opportunities to help build playgrounds.

Cons

Management micro manages. If you enjoy getting told you're not doing enough work or getting pulled off you normal work to help other departments while mangers sit around in sowing circles then this is the place for you. Health insurance, dental, and vision is at least $650 plus a month. You will be told to work extra for 4 or 5 weeks straight then a month later be asked to take a week off with no pay. If you want to be paid for that week off you need to use vacation or sick pay. Managers are constantly changing changing what is acceptable and what's not. A common saying among my associates is the only constant is change. I also see another constant which is inconsistency.

Pros

The Benefits package is great if you're a full-time employee

Cons

-Lots of Hours could be good or bad -Favoritism when it comes to hours and job duties -Never got payment or reimbursement for taking lunch after the 4th hour in California. -Never got to take any breaks in the year that I worked there, and was harassed if I was seen even getting water or using the restroom, after being out running around or pushing cars in the sun for hours. -Was followed and filmed on their cell phones by managers in the buyer's office while working, for as they said "to keep me in check" -Was written up for being 1 minute late and -Was accused of stealing company time and not working, when I told them to pull film or talk to sales, inventory, or shop techs that had seen me running around all day and it would prove my innocence they continued to harass me and never followed up with any proof. -New hires that had literally been there less than a month were given power over me and senior back lot and the raise that comes with it. Yes I was passed over after 3 other BAs had quit all within less than a month because of working conditions and I stayed... and gave all the best hours training and raises to the new hires that were less knowledgable. -When I wanted to quit peacefully with a two week noticed I was continually harassed and written up under false allegations to the point of almost being fired until I walked out and Said ENOUGH! -Do not work here unless you want to suffer, Worst job I've worked and I've had some bad ones

Pros

The company has a ton of information available to you. They encourage new team members to “own your development “

Cons

It seems to be a company that a one point in time was very structured and focus on training and development but has since lost sight of the policies that lead to their success. Sales are the only thing g that matter currently. The facilities are generally outdated and the technology is at least 10 years behind the curve. The biggest issue with the “ own your development “ philosophy is that most of the time your superiors are the ones standing in your way.
