Pros

None Zero Nada None Zero Nada

Cons

Everything. Maryland Market is a joke run by a host of Incompetent Regional Managers all former employees of the Regions Vice President that sold her stores to Caliber Collision. Good old boys club aka high school clique. General Managers are not permitted to actually manage and are expected to tolerate transfires aka employees that should be fired for multiple reasons but upper management just shovels them around store to store trying to make retention numbers look good. Ridiculous hours in excess of 75 per week. They find every excuse to not honor pay structure bonuses. Regional Managers and above do NOT provide support, cover your store in times of need unless you are part of “the club”. They are gossipy unprofessional incompetent unsopportive and typically never have an answer to a question. There is absolutely no training with the company. The company pushes goals but trust when you achieve the goals it is not acknowledged therefore creating a negative culture. If you don’t show up for work, don’t do your job and are an “atta boy” you will do great with Caliber. If you are a hard worker, go to work everyday, follow the Core Values and do everything under the sun, moon and stars for the company you need to work elsewhere as you will never be appreciated and disposed of like a piece of garbage.

Pros

Can succeed quickly without much formal education. Get to work with public if that is something you enjoy. The job will keep you super busy and engaged boredom is never a problem.

Cons

Prepare for extreme stress. Caliber collision puts a lot of pressure on the general managers and offers them very little in return. Most shops in the area are a revolving door at the position. They just plug people in and hope it works. Will move you across town at a moments notice. Starting to feel comfortable at a shop? They will send you to a failing shop an hour from your house. Start to turns things around there and they will stick you somewhere else. Long hours. Let me say that again long hours. Be prepared to watch everyone else leave before you. On Friday the body techs will be gone by 2pm while you work your 6am-10pm shift. If you're an estimator expect 60-70 hour week and if your a gm expect 80-90 hours. Expect to work Saturdays. Expect to answer texts and calls after work. Expect to miss holiday parties. Company goes crazy every end of the month to push cars out that have no business or chance to go home. Management will pressure you to set unrealistic sales goals. They will make big commission promises but there's almost no chance to get them. You only get commission if the shop makes profit even if you crush your sales goals. Sounds easy enough but guess again. Everything comes out of your shop profit. One of the body techs making 100k-150k per year breaks something being careless that comes straight out of your profit. Estimator makes a mistake and you have to buy something for customer straight from your income. Toliet breaks, ac goes out, need a new welder, air compressor is 20 years old and breaks no profit. You get your base pay don't expect to make the commission numbers they claim. There is a really terrible climate and balance of authority within the market. Painters and especially experienced body technicians are extremely valuable and in short supply and they know it. Almost all of them make more money then you even though your supposed to be in charge. They will go straight past you if they have a problem and call your boss who will cater to them because they have to do everything to make sure they don't leave. It's not the worst place in the world but there are easier places that will pay you much better.
